YOU MUST SUBMIT A COMPLETED WAIVER IN ORDER TO START THE RIDE

Please see the SIR Pandemic Plan for our COVID-19 protocols. These protocols apply to this event and future rides for an indefinite time period.

This is the same route as this year's Brevet Week 400K. We're running it again to give Cascade 1400 riders another opportunity to qualify, but this ride is open to everyone.

NOTE: This is a RUSA brevet, not an ACP brevet. You can ride it to qualify for Cascade 1400, work towards a RUSA award (R-12, K-Hound, etc), or just because you enjoy 400Ks (!?!?). Since this is a RUSA brevet it cannot be used towards ACP awards (Super Randonneur Series, R-5000, etc).

NOTE: Expect the same level of support on this ride as you would expect during Brevet Week. In other words, almost none. Consider this ride fully self-supported.

The ride starts by going north on familiar roads to Snohomish and Marysville. The climb up to Lake Ki will definitely break up the pack! Keep a close eye up at Lake Ki as there are some easy-to miss turns that could lead you off-course and down the wrong downhill!

After Stanwood, the route makes a loop on Camano Island that is stacked full of steep hills. Watch out for the INFO control at Utsalady Point Vista Park. The Elger Bay Grocery is another control on the island, and then you will go north back to Stanwood. The route does not take the southern portion of Camano Island as in other brevets. When returning back in Standwood the route goes north to Conway, Edison and Chuckanut Drive. If you are into a gravel path, the RWGPS follows the Interurban Trail, which has a tricky steep gravel downhill. Or if you choose, you can stay on Chuckanut Drive.

Immediately after the Fairhaven control, the route climbs steeply (max 10% grade) up Old Fairhaven Rd that gains about 600 ft in 3.5 miles. The route follows beautiful roads along Lake Whatcom. The route heads south on SR9 to Sedro Woolley and Lake McMurray, and follows the Centennial Trail back to Snohomish. After the Broadway climb, the route takes the Paradise Lake back into Redmond.

Electronic Proof of Passage

After you successfully complete this ride you may optionally submit your results by EPP. If you choose to do this you must complete and submit the Extra Springy 400K EPP form by Monday, May 16 at 6:00 PM (Pacific Time).

Requirements:
  • The only EPP track data currently supported is via RideWithGPS trips. If you do not have a RideWithGPS account you can setup a free account. The trip must be marked "public".
  • You must pickup a control card at the start.
  • After finishing, please sign your control card and write EPP clearly on the front.
  • If the finish control is staffed, the organizer (or whomever is staffing the finish control) will record the time you rolled into the control as your finish time, then sign and collect your control card.
  • If the finish control is unstaffed, you must note the time you roll into the finish on your control card and get someone to initial it. Note your ride completion time in hours and minutes.
  • When filling out the EPP form ensure you enter the actual time you rolled into the finish control as your "finish time". Any "elapsed time" or "moving time" from your GPS is irrelevant for EPP purposes.
  • This is still a trial – it would be wise to continue collecting info control answers as a backup.

If you wish to participate in the EPP trial please comply with these simple requirements.
