Brevet Week 400K (ACP)
Hey all you K-Hounds, are you interested in doing an entire series in a week? How about a 1000K followed up with a 400K and 200K? Well... the Olympia Brevet Week is your ticket! This year's series offers a number of fantastic, previously-run Brevets in the Olympia area. The 600k follows the first part of Olympia St Helens 1000K and the 400K follows the last part of the 1000k. The 200k and 300k are also previously-run Brevets by Paul Johnson in 2011. All Brevets start and finish in Tumwater, however the overnight for the 600k and 1000k is in Port Angeles so be ready to be self-sufficient!
Note: all of the brevets are self-supported. We will send you off with your control card, the rest is up to you!
Brevet Week 400K
The 400k is also the final section of the 1000k, which will loop through the western Cascades, and goes south through Centralia/Chehalis. At Toledo there is an approximately 1,000 ft climb up to Hoffstadt Visitors Center (at elev. 1,400 ft above sea level), where, if you are lucky and it’s a clear day, there might be a fantastic view of Mt St Helens. The 400k route will return to Toledo and take the back roads up the Cowlitz River Valley, passing by Mayfield Reservoir, Morton, and Randle. At Packwood, the route will then climb approximately 1,500 feet (to elev. 2,500 feet above sea level) up Skate Creek Road up and over to Ashford. The route will then go through Eatonville and then the most direct route back to Tumwater. The total cumulative elevation gain of the 400k is about 8,000 feet. Note: This route may still have snow in early May. We may change it if the snow doesn’t melt by April 29.
