Spring 200k - 3/12

Spring 200km Brevet (ACP) - Let the Games Begin.

It’s time to stretch your legs and join us as we kick off the official 2016 randonneuring season with a new 200km brevet on Saturday, March 12.  The ride departs at 7:30 am from Sixty Acres Park in Woodinville, and this year it finishes at Mark and Chris Thomas’ house.  We’ll have post-ride snacks and libation at the end of the ride.

Ride Summary:

We’ve mapped out a varied route that will take us north through Snohomish and Granite Falls, and then up to Big Lake and back on quiet roads near Lake Cavanaugh.  We will pass through several towns along the way, so you should have ample opportunity to refuel or re-caffinate as needed.

It will help immensely if you pre-register (and prepay) before the day of ride to reduce the congestion at the start and to give us a sense of what supplies we need.  If you are a returning randonneur, please try to submit and pay your RUSA and SIR memberships well before March 10.  SIR membership is not required, but is encouraged, and it does offer you a discount on all SIR brevets.  Membership in Randonneurs USA (RUSA) is also encouraged if you are not already a member (and is requirement for SIR membership).  RUSA is our parent organization, a source of tons of information on randonneuring and membership gives you the opportunity to collect mileage awards and trinkets among other things.  We will have SIR and RUSA membership forms at the start for those new or renewing riders who need them.  All riders will be expected to be familiar with and follow the rules of the road and RUSA’s rules for riders.  Your bicycle should be equipped with a taillight and headlight, as the days are still short in early March.

We hope to see you out there.

Note the new start time 7:30am.
