Ride Description:The summer populaire heralds the start of the second series and this year we welcome the summer with a wonderful new urban route.
| A little bit of city, a little bit of climbing and a whole lot of the Puget Sound. This new route invites you is see Seattle and its environs in a whole new light. It’s not just a new route for old hands but a wonderful opportunity to invite friends who have wondered about randonneuring but worried that they would have to ride to Timbuktu to get the real rando experience.|
We start along the Duwamish River in South Park. Bring your low gears for the traverse of the West Seattle hills. We ride the water front through the Seahurst and Normandy Park neighborhoods. A couple steep sections will pay off with magnificent views of both Mount Rainier and Puget Sound.
You may never look at the south end the same way again. This 100K travels many tree lined roads, mixing in some fun descents and hairpin turns. We will go as far south as Dash Point for views of the Tacoma skyline before we head back north.
The final section climbs you past SeaTac over some rolling hills with a great payoff decent back in to South Park. We will finish up at Loretta's Northwesterner where the chilled beverage of your choice will be waiting, the burgers are tasty, and the patio out back offers opportunities to relax and tell stories of past rides and plan new adventures.
